45 minutes of my life I will never get back

Well that may be the last Dr Who I watch. It was 45 minutes of utter, unremitting shite, with a script worse than Big Brother, yet more sub-Eastenders drivel about the tedious Tyler family. The selling points were presumably the personable but uncharismatic 'ordinary bloke' lead like a Kwik-Save No Frills Malcolm McDowell and Peter Kay playing a daft, fat Northern git and the ickily smutty bits that sit very ill with the former tenor of the show and the family viewing slot.

Even the thrill of seeing the launderette I used as a student next to the aptly named tobaconnists (D M Ash) couldn't compensate for the mediocrity of the whole enterprise. Presumably they have run out of money for special effects (recycling those from earlier shows) and fees for the stars, who this week put in a full five minutes of two-cock gob pouting (Billie P) and standing about looking arch and slightly bored (Tennant).
