The perfumes that suit me best are aldehydics - the chemically ones that started to be developed in the 1920s - Chanel No 5 and Estee Lauder's White Linen are among my favourites. Completely natural perfumes always disappoint me because the smell vanishes or changes too quickly. I am very hot but don't sweat so I burn off florals really quickly. Orientals are better; favourite include Cartier Baiser du Dragon, Lalique Tendre Kiss, Estee Lauder Youth Dew, Mitsouko de Guerlain. Perfume is the luxury I could least bear to lose.
2. You can only have three foods for the rest of your life. What would they be?
very good quality milk chocolate packed with mixed dried fruit and nuts, organic line caught salmon sushi on green salad and seaweed with garlic soy and sesame dressing, blueberry, pomegramate and mango smoothies. I love all of these foods and they would provide excellent all round and anti-ageing nutrition. This is one of those rare occasions where vanity would win out over gluttony.
3. You are going to be sent back in time. What era do you choose?
Augustan Rome provided I could be male and patrician. Regency London provided I could be female, beautiful, infertile and immune to all STDs. These and other periods fascinate me, but I know I wouldn't want to have bene born female, proletarian and mixed race in any other place or time.
4. Moonlight or sunlight?
Both, but if I have to choose, sunlight. The light allows you to see more detail. But if I had had to choose between winter and summer it would have been winter. Sudden winter sunlight is teh best thinga bout the English climate.
5. What is the most annoying TV show in existence?
These days? The news.
